Inspirations of Gray for My Son's Bedroom

I've been researching gray decor for inspiration for my son's room.  He gravitates to a more modern yet eclectic design style.  Even though he is only thirteen, he is really very confident in what he like or doesn't like. Since he is now a teenager, I am looking for design that will last and actually I have started thinking in terms of items that he will be able to transition into his own space one day.  That may sound odd, but having a twenty year old who is putting together her first real space, post dorm life, and remembering my first place, I know that sometimes it is not easy to make your first place look stylish when you are trying to stay on a budget and mix in your own items with hand-me-downs from friends and family.  So, I'm just trying to thinking ahead.

With my son Tyler's choice to paint his walls gray, I wanted to make sure I have done my do diligence to come up with the right color...did I mention, he also leans toward the dark gray for his walls?

After many paint samples and opinions of friends and family, we have chosen Dover Gray. It's pretty dark but his room has a huge window which brings in so much natural light.  Of course he is thinking "man cave".

I figured by painting the color choices on the wall and making a blog page this would give me the push I need to get it done!!! You can follow our makeover on http://inspirationsofold.blogspot.com/p/my-homeprojects.html

Oh, and I shouldn't forget to tell you that since we are on an extremely limited budget, this makeover is going to require a lot of creativity and DIY.  Any input or ideas are greatly appreciated.

In the mean time, I thought I would share with you all of the beautiful inspiration I have found while researching for this project.  Here are some of my favorite inspirations.  My hope is to make his room a mature space that is modern yet cozy and comfy with some metal and wood accents.

So much inspiration out there...I can't wait to get started...

  1. Well gray is quite a strong and mature color.Mostly teenagers want something funky. But as you mentioned this is choice of your son then it must be fine . Best of luck.
